About Us

The Lindahl Family has operated a small scale farming operation in the Wetaskiwin area since 1991. Their focus has always been to be involved in the agricultural industry by producing livestock that would offer alternative opportunities for the purpose of diversification and efficiency in today’s competitive agricultural market place.

Ken Lindahl & Paula

Ken Lindahl was one of the original people to be involved with the development of the Katahdin Hair Sheep breed in Alberta. This was a low maintenance and efficient meat only breed. He also raised South African Dorper sheep.  Ken was instrumental in the development of the Katahdin breed association and in the promotion of the Katahdin and Dorper breeds.  He also worked with new breeders by helping them get started with their own operations.

More recently the Lindahl Family became acquainted with the Lowline breed of cattle. Lowline’s were developed in Australia by the Australian government as a research project on efficiency and quality based on the frame size and feed intake conversion on a select herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle. The outcome, after 20 years of research, was a new breed of smaller efficient cattle called Lowline’s.

Lowline Cattle, with all of their attributes, are a good fit with the focus the Lindahl Family has had over the past years.  They are an efficient breed, converting marginal grass land to beef, docile, easy to handle, naturally polled and do very well in a cross breeding program. Lowlines can provide a large farming operation with an excellent income alternative that is less labor intensive. And for the hobby farmer they are an enjoyable way of turning smaller land holdings into revenue.

The goal of Lindahl Lowline Cattle Co. is to continue to raise both full blood Lowline cattle as well as percentage Lowline cross cattle, and to provide breeding stock to those that want to get involved in an alternative business opportunity. They will also be marketing a healthy supply of tender, well marbled Lowline beef, in smaller cuts, direct to the consumer.
